Cruise and passenger ship advisory

A cruise ship is a hotel, a resort and a power station that has to pass a survey. We advise owners, investors and operators on passenger vessels and on the terminals and ports they depend on.

What we advise on

Ships that carry people, and the ports that receive them

  • Acquisition and sale

Second-hand cruise, expedition and ferry tonnage: condition, compliance, refit cost and what the vessel can earn.

  • Deployment

Where a ship should sail, which market it should serve, and which itineraries the ports can actually support.

  • Refit and conversion

Refits, rebranding and conversion to other uses, including accommodation and hotel ships, priced and sequenced.

  • Terminals and destinations

Cruise terminals and destination ports: capacity, berthing, passenger flow and the commercial agreements behind them.

  • Ferry and passenger services

Fleet and route planning for ferry operators and the public bodies that contract them.

  • End of life

Sale for further trading, lay-up or recycling, handled in line with current ship recycling requirements.

Before you commit

The questions that decide value

Passenger ships are expensive to keep compliant and expensive to leave idle. These questions decide whether a vessel is an opportunity or a liability.

  • What is the vessel's survey and dry-dock history, and what work is due next?
  • Which safety and environmental upgrades does it need to keep trading where you want it to?
  • What will a refit really cost, and how long will the ship be out of service?
  • Can the intended ports berth the ship and process its passengers efficiently?
  • What is the vessel worth for further trading, compared with conversion or recycling?
